Just another typical FHE at the Eliason's

Owen"a"

Ian"a"

Creighton"a"
Baker"a"

Once upon a time these 4 little girls lived happily in a home with no contention, no anger, no sports and no smelly stink...and then...a spell was cast upon them and POOF...they became 4 boys who all they did was think "Sports, sports, sports, and Food, food, food" and so is my life.

Wii must have had a bit of "extra' time...

When the boys found out this morning that we had gotten them ready for church a whole HOUR early...you would have thought...well...let's just say 4 boys in white shirts and ties...it isn't pretty nor handsome. SO...I gave in and let them play the Wii if they all promised to play "NICE". They did. And so I'm thinking 11 o'clock church may not be so bad after all.

Oh Give Me A Break...

I see that some things really do need explaining. But now I am bit confused...but what's new?

Ok...so here is where my state of confusion is. While at the doctors office yesterday, waiting, nothing new there either. I noticed this sign on the door...

really...??? I mean, SOMEONE had to have LEAVE their child, THEIR OWN FLESH and BLOOD for an office to have a SIGN made and PUT UP that specifically states NOT TO LEAVE without your offspring...who does that??? Not that there hasn't been a time or twenty that I have wanted to leave one or all four behind, but you don't really DO IT!! Come on, really people, leaving your child, like they can't find you? You have filled out paper work, given them phone numbers, paid money, and given insurance information...hate to tell you, but THEY ARE GOING TO FIND YOU! If your kid is that bad, I'm thinkin' the doctors office isn't the smartest place to be ditchin' em'.

So that got me thinking...as I had 3 hours to do so...what other lame signs I had seen. Recently...on my Oreo Cake, thank you Wlliams-Sonoma, the plastic bags that separated the two cake pans had a "lame" warning that I made sure I read OUT LOUD to my boys, just in case they were wondering. I wish I hadn't thrown it away now to get the words exactly right, but it went something like, This is not a bed time toy. Oh, okay, thank you, wasn't sure about that. You know, I'm never quite sure what to do with the plastic that I get with my CAKE PANS!!

In Honor of Aunt Emily...

In honor of all things FROZEN...I attempted an ice-cream cake. To my best efforts, with mom's apron and all...it is done. Good tasting, well, that is to be decided, but it is done. I do have to say it fared better than the Red Velvet Cake!

It does look better on the Williams-Sonoma box, but hey...it's my first try right? The boys...Owen...to be exact...is the reason I haven't given up completely.

He LOVES my BAKING...how ever uneatable!! (even if it is to just lick the bowl...and that's okay with me) Perhaps that's why I have boys and not girls? Don't know how I married a cookbook author's son, but I did. Luckily NOT being able to cook is not held against me, at least not that I know of.

ANY WAY...happy birthday Aunt Emily...we froze a piece of cake for you!!

Thanks to Uncle Frank, we did not go the WHOLE holiday season without a family picture. AND, the boys were able to get their standard goofy face picture with "Big Drew", Hey...nothing is better than that, really!! We ALL love Big Drew, he really is the best!

Christmas Catch-Up

Well we all survived the Christmas madness and are recuperating with Mike home from work for a few days. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve & Day and the Boys were blessed by gifts from "Santa". I guess they were good after all.

So here is a quick Play by Play on how the past two days went:
  • cleaned up house over and over as boys entered and re-entered each room
  • made soups and then swore that I would NEVER make soups again (as I do ever year)
  • made red velvet cake, everything went fine

  • made red velvet cake frosting
  • called Karine (Mike's Mom)
  • attempted to FIX frosting
  • made red velvet cake frosting AGAIN
  • called Karine AGAIN
  • did not attempt to save, went to Frys and got tub-o-frosting
  • am hiring out future red velvet cakes!
  • set up hot chocolate bar
  • set out dishes
  • had family over
  • ate
  • played games and opened presents
  • attempted to sleep
  • Christmas Day- opened presents

  • off to Grandma/Grandpa's
  • off to Nonnie and Granddads
  • off to BED
  • recuperating and celebrating that Christmas is another 364 days away!

Does It Make Me A Bad Mom...

I ask you this...after playing around with "MAC" last night and importing some family photos. I ran into pictures that made me laugh and cry. There were events that I had totally forgotten and then there were events that I wish I could FORGET altogether!

So, tell me this, is is wrong that this makes me laugh:

And this makes me cry:

What is it with pictures that can tough at your heart strings and pee your pants simultaneously?

Here are some blasts from the past that I thought you may enjoy. We did.

Baker & Crate were able to be Hi Five Kids @ the Suns Game

Last year was Baker's first year running cross country. Out of 136 5th and 6th grade boys he came in 23rd place! It was his first race of the season.

Nothing like a little R&R at Oprah's house to make your worries disappear. A fun week in Telluride.

Thought I'd end on a sweet note...not that he isn't sweet now, but ohhh...those were the days!!
