Remember, Remember...

Yesterday Bakerman was given a great responsibility...he was extended a calling as the first counselor in the deacon's quorum. Over the past year I have watched my son grow and mature into quite a young man. My eyes are filled with tears many times...with joy...as he continues to be such an amazing example to his brothers. I am always honored to be next to him in any situation...yesterday especially. He chose to bear his testimony in church yesterday and as I listened, I couldn't help but feel as though it was his...no longer mine or Mike's that he needed to lean on, but his own. How pleased I was to hear his heart and know it was true.

Bakerman, I love you...I love your example...I love your ability to make others laugh and I love that your are comfortable being who you are. I know that your Heavenly Father loves you. I know that he is pleased with you and that He wants what's best for you. I know that if you continue being who you are and standing for what is true and right you will one day return to be with Him. Be strong Baker...Choose the Right...Remember who you are and what you stand for...And Always, Always,Always, Remember, I love you!!!!

Out Like A Light

Sleeping like a baby...It was the first time for me to be on THIS side of the hospital bed...I LIKE it!!! Mike was out cold...and let me just say, the it's a good thing he doesn't drink because he would be one that could not hold his liquor!!

"Yes that's FREE too!"

Thanks to a great friend of ours, we received some tickets to a children's expo. I took the younger two boys and we set out to get our "free" stuff!!FIRST, we had to meet Sponge Bob...O was not so much the fan but Ian had no problem jumping right into Bikini Bottom!

We got our hands painted!! NO, they are not tattoos, just paint!

Mined for gold and guess what? Found some!

Saw some nasty, ugly, harry bugs and reptiles and touched them.

Just call me Sir Owen, and King Ian

and last but not least, we got the cop who gave mom her wrongful ticket!

Happy Happy Birthday...and so on and so on

What's the best way to spend your birthday you ask? At a BOY SCOUT CAMP OUT of course!!
ok...on Mike's top 10 WORST things to do...Camping is about THE WORST!! However, it was Creighton's first camp out so what's a Dad to do...which can only mean ONE thing for the 3 of us left at home...

SLEEPOVER in Mom's bed...yep...fun for everyone!!

Fear not...Mike's birthday did not stink all together...the boys helped set the REAL table and we had a great dinner Sunday and Red Velvet Cake...

SOM

What an exciting way to start off the school year...Baker was chosen to be "Student of the Month" for the month of August. He was one of just a few 7th Graders picked out of the school to receive this honor. It is a surprise that is not shared with the students unit that moment, besides that fact that your parents are there with a camera :D!!! Way to go Bakerman, we {heart} you!!!!

Smile

Driving to the bus today we had an extra friend in the car...he was telling the boys, pointing to the High School, "My brother goes there". Ian asked how old he was. The friend replied, "He's 15, when he's 16 he'll get a car." Ian...without missing a beat said, "And then when he's 19 he get's to go on his mission". The friend responded, "but when he's 16 he gets a car", Ian said, "AND then at 19 he gets to go on a mission!"

A smile came upon my face...here my 8 year old sat next to me...not excited to be 16, to get a car, to date, to drive, but counting down the time before his OWN mission...A PROUD mommy moment!! Ian is constantly seeking to know the truth...wanting to understand all there is to know...asking questions and thinking about the answers given...I have no doubt that he WILL, someday,be an extraordinary missionary...

Enough is Enough

Over 2.5 billion text messages are sent each day in the USA
Over 75 million twitter accounts
Over 112.8 million blog accounts
Over 500 million face-book accounts
Over 861 million email accounts

Hummm...let me think...
  • the last time I got a phone call and it WASN'T a solicitor,my husband or parents?
  • the last time I was asked to go or do something and it wasn't through email?
  • the last time I was invited on an "outing" and it wasn't a text?
  • the last time I found out something somewhat important and it wasn't on a blog?
Makes me sad really...I grew up without ALL of these "so called" luxuries...I lived. I actually had friends, a social life, a job. Because of it I believe I was taught manners, respect, good ethics, hard work, and responsibility among other things. I feel as though we are living in a society where individuals run off machines...one bigger than the next...unable to function without their electronic vices, oh sorry, I mean DE-vices. What is that...what has happened...my 5 year old is wanting an itouch...No!!! What he should be asking for is a soccer ball, or a Nerf Gun...If keeping up with the Jones means loosing my boys to this nasty, disgusting, self-centered world we live in...than NO THANKS...I'd rather explain over and over again how OUR side of the fence, though it may not look like it now, is WAY greener!! We may not have the fanciest of cars, the newest of toys, the coolest of clothes, but my boys WILL know how to use a phone, write a letter, look at someone in the eye, shake a hand and mean it, iron a shirt, and make a dinner. They never let me get a car door, a door of any kind for that matter, they always tell me how "pretty" I look, even if I don't. They are very complementary of my shoes, and they are the first to get up and help clean off any dinner table. They are fluent in "Please and Thank You" and most importantly to me...they still give me a hug and kiss each morning before they leave and each night before bed. I have no doubt that a text can't teach that...

SO...for now...my blog is for me...a private place to come and journal about what I love most...
  • my loves...My MEN
  • my sad days and my joyous occasions
  • the good the bad and the ugly
I will not stop ...I just think it's time to stop the "maddness" maybe not forever...but for now.

All My Love,
