"I cannot go to school today"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry.
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox.
And there's one more - that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue,
It might be the instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke.
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in.
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My toes are cold, my toes are numb,
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There's a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is ...
What?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is .............. Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!"
by Shel SilversteinI started school on Tuesday, let me save you the sob story and just say
IT WAS NOT A PRETTY DAY!! It has almost been 20 years since I have stepped into a class room and now I know WHY!! I have been taking classes over the last few years, but they have been all on line...a TOTALLY different story. I can not recall being THIS horrified in,
FOREVER.
FEAR does not describe the feeling I have...Today, I
MUST go back. It is taking ALL I have and
more to get up the courage to go...it was not horrible, noting BAD happened...but it was HORRIBLE...every time I think about it my eyes fill up with tears,my heart races, my hands start to sweat, and my head goes to bad places...I must be the biggest baby on the face of the earth!! I would rather have 4 more kids with NO anesthetic than go to
ONE more class...that was noting compared to this...THIS IS
that BAD!!!
I am a MESS...a MESS...why? I am older, wiser, by FAR a better dresser, my SHOES rock in comparison to the slippers I saw on Tuesday...and yet...I can't stop shaking...my headaches are non-stop, my stomach is turning, my foot won't stop tapping...I am completing out of control...
and yet I tell my boys..."just do your best, relax, everyone else is thinking the same thing"...some mom...next time maybe I'll just let them stay home...
