My Turn

I saw this commercial on TV today and was impressed to do my own...click here

Hi, I'm Angela. I was born in Arizona. I am a wife and mother of 4. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me
I am often asked, "Are they ALL yours?"..."YES!" "They are all mine, each and every one of them. The black, the blond, the brown and the black again...there all mine." "Do you keep trying for a girl?" I am asked, "Do you?" I ask back?...Life with 4 boys is a constant surprise, one I would never give up...one I treasure...one I find to be a reward each and every day.

16 years ago I meet the love of my life, my very best friend and my eternal companion. I taught him what fork to use at a Christmas dinner and he taught me what true and unconditional love was....

We were married in the Mesa, LDS Temple in 1995 and continue to fall more in love with each other every day. Just a few years later he graduated from ASU while I continued to worked in dentistry. After graduation we had our first of four sons and I was able to be a stay-at-home mom...my dream job...the one I really always wanted!

Over the years we have had several opportunitys to go on family vacations allowing us to grow closer together and gain those irreplaceable memories that we can look back on and recall with joy and laughter. We love taking vacations with extended family as well. The boys love being with their cousins and no matter how long they are together, it is never long enough!!

Our spare time fills up quickly. With band, cub scouts, scouts, sports, and church activities their is little "spare" time left. We find that with busy bodies there is little room for trouble to be had. I enjoy watching my children succeed in what ever it is they are invested in at the time. Be it a book report or a basketball game. I also love to find a quiet moment for myself, however, when I do, I find that I am thinking of one of the 5 men in my life. I guess that's why you have great girlfriends!!

Why Am I Mormon?
I find this to be a simple answer, just like my testimony, simple and straight froward. I do not know the scriptures backwards and forwards...though I know I should. I do not know everything there is to know about the church...but I do know this...I know I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves ME. I know that Christ died for me so that I could be forgiven for my sins and that would be the only way to return back to Him. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel, I know he was a living prophet and spoke to God. I know that we, I, am lead by a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. I know that if I am true and faithful to the covenants that I make to my Father in heaven I too can return to live with Him someday and in so doing will be able to be with my family for all time and eternity.

What Has Helped Reached Greater Harmony In Your Home?
Sometimes I forget that our homes are to be a temple too...and other times I don't ever want to leave...I find that to be funny. I want our home to be a place that our boys don't ever want to leave and a place where they always feel safe. Where when their friends walk in, they too feel that there is something different...good different.

Every night at dinner, my oldest started a tradition a long time ago of asking what everyone's "high's and low's"...we all go around the table and share what happened through out the day. It started out with little "highs" and lots of "lows". As each night went on I noticed the "highs" were getting less and less. I began to ask for help to my Heavenly Father to have conversations with the boys to inspire "highs". I didn't notice at first but slowing the "lows" were dissolving and before I could put my finger on it there were no more "lows" just "highs"...we still do "highs and lows"...I still ask for help each day to have purposeful conversations with my boys. We do get "lows" every once and a while but only on a really bad day. I am grateful to my Father in Heaven who hears my prayers and helps me keep the spirit in my home and in my life to keep my boys in tune. I am greatful for quiet moments with each of my boys to talk to them about the gospel and the belssing that it brings into our lives. I am blessed to have the opportunity to pick them up from school and have those precious few minutes to ourselves. At first I looked at it as wasted time...now I treasure this time and I truly look forward to it each and every day as it is "our time" and I would not trade it for the world! As the scripture says, "by small and simple things"...I am a true believer in this. It is nothing big...a car ride, but what meaning conversations have come out of them. The radio is off, the windows are up, the phone is off. My heart is open and my ears are tuned in and they are ready. Every day...even though it's not for long...they are ready to talk and they always have so much to say.

Thank you...thank you!!

How I Live My Faith
Being Mormon is who I am. It is in every pore of my being. It continues on with how I dress, speak, and treat others. It dictates what movies I watch, what TV shows I view, the music that I listen to. I do my best to serve others. I constantly try and teach my family to look and see what they can to do help others in need, to be giving of their own things and of their own time. We do our best to remember that the Lord gave us all we have and it is our turn to give back. Just like most families we struggle...we fight and bicker...it is our responsibility to try and remember what is important in the big picture and to not let the little things bring us down. We need to remember that if we choose to live the way that Christ does, we will be a happier person and those around us will be happier too. We also try and surround are selves with others who are uplifting and supportive of our decisions and choices. Faith in Christ allows us to know who we are, what we stand for, and where we are headed.

THE CELLPHONE VS THE SCRIPTURES

I wonder what would happen if we treated our scriptures like we treat our cell phones? What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we spent an hour or more using it every day?
What if we used it to receive messages?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to other kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled? What if we used it in case of an emergency?
This is something to make you go...."Hmmm..Dude.. where is my scriptures?"

Unlike our cell phones:
One Plan does fit all.
Unlimited usage. No roaming charges.
You always have reception.
You can use it in the mountains and in a tunnel.
It's free with no hidden costs,
AND you don't ever have to worry your scriptures being disconnected because CHRIST has already paid the bill!
