Let us love our boys—although some of them are loud boys. Let us teach them to change.

Come What May and LOVE it!!

Lately it seems like I have once again lost all control. Where did it go you ask...I have no earthly clue!!
A while back I was given 2 things that I Hold Near and Dear to me. They, at times, try to keep me sane and in my right mind which is not an easy task to do.
1st-was this, from the BEST doctor in the entire WORLD...he says that there is "NO HOPE" for me. In his language, that means he loves me and wishes I would get my act together so that I would not see him as much!!
2nd-I received this from a dear friend...perhaps she too is sick of me and my "issues" :D. But, isn't that what friends are for? I LOVE it. I read it every day and then I continue to ask myself, "how can I LOVE IT?"...still learning this one, but I love the message and one day I will have this conquered.
Last, but NEVER least...Michael...Oh how I LOVE him. Without him, I w

Does this mean I'm OLD????
Popples? Remember them...Mine was purple and I LOVED it. Took it every where. Popped it in, popped it out. So very cleaver, well, back then I suppose.
OK...I know I am NOT the only one who remembers these. My parents shopped at ABCO, and I have to say...LOVED these carts, in one word...AWESOME!! Ok, so you cant fit food for a family of 6 in them, but they are outrageously fun for the kids of the family of 6 to play on! (sit under) I miss these. Remember, you had to unhook the back and it was even with the belt that the food went on...:D. So sweet...the good ol' days.

Jellys. My Dad HATED jellys, still probably does. Wasn't allowed to have/wear them. SO, my Aunt bought me a pair in every color, cuz that's what Aunt's DO!! and I would sneek them in my back pack to school. LOVED IT. Looking back, I think my DAD was right, He usually is!
Hammer Time...Can't touch this...and now...lets just move on by saying YES, had a pair, NO, not any more.

Lessons I've Learned
I find it interesting how individuals, members of the church or not, seem to get some sort of enjoyment from hurting others. Not by inflecting pain in the way of blood and torture, but by way of words and actions, and if you ask me (which it's my blog so I can say what I want) the latter is way worse!!
What happened to the ol', "Do unto others". I find that if you can embarrass, call out, make fun of, or talk behind one's back you are in the norm. How am I to teach my boys if all they see is the opposite of everything I am teaching by the adults that they know?
I find it very frustrating.
I found this great clip from General Conference from President Hinkley, he was by far one of my very FAVORITE prophets. He spoke so softly, but with such authority. (something this BRICK has yet to learn!) His love for the gospel and the Lord was so evident. When he spoke, it was as though he was speaking to me. I love this story he tells. I wounder why, we, as adults, could not just "give" instead of "take" from each other. We really would all be in such a nicer place. Really, we would!!!

On My Honor...
Creighton and Ian have both been working very hard in Cub Scouts. Creighton earned his Arrow of Light on Thursday night and Ian, only being in 4 days has already earned his Bobcat! BUT hey, what can I say...he has 2 big brothers that have been GREAT examples to him and shown him the way.
We are very pleased with our boys and the choices that they have made. Congratulations boys on all your hard work!!

It's Great to be 8!
Now, days have passed, years have passed. We have encountered too many doctors visits, shots, sutures, hospital stays, and worried nights, and now 8 years later, our sick little boy is Strong, Brave, Valiant, Humble, he is a constant example to me of what we can accomplish if we try. He is much like my father...who he is named after. He has many of his qualities. We did not know that at the time, when we gave him this name but it has come quite evident over the years that it is a VERY fitting name.
My sweet Ian, how I love every inch of you. How blessed we are to have you be a part of our family!! I will forever remember the day you came to us, the day we brought you home from the hospital, the day we had to take you back to the hospital, and the day you came home again. Your life did not start off as easy as we had hoped, but you have surprised us all and have come through with flying colors. You are a strong young man, I pray that will stay with you for the rest of your life. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you, as you have blessed me and the rest of our family. We are all better because of your presence. You are truly a miracle baby, my miracle, my blessing. I love you!!
