Smile

Driving to the bus today we had an extra friend in the car...he was telling the boys, pointing to the High School, "My brother goes there". Ian asked how old he was. The friend replied, "He's 15, when he's 16 he'll get a car." Ian...without missing a beat said, "And then when he's 19 he get's to go on his mission". The friend responded, "but when he's 16 he gets a car", Ian said, "AND then at 19 he gets to go on a mission!"

A smile came upon my face...here my 8 year old sat next to me...not excited to be 16, to get a car, to date, to drive, but counting down the time before his OWN mission...A PROUD mommy moment!! Ian is constantly seeking to know the truth...wanting to understand all there is to know...asking questions and thinking about the answers given...I have no doubt that he WILL, someday,be an extraordinary missionary...

Enough is Enough

Over 2.5 billion text messages are sent each day in the USA
Over 75 million twitter accounts
Over 112.8 million blog accounts
Over 500 million face-book accounts
Over 861 million email accounts

Hummm...let me think...
  • the last time I got a phone call and it WASN'T a solicitor,my husband or parents?
  • the last time I was asked to go or do something and it wasn't through email?
  • the last time I was invited on an "outing" and it wasn't a text?
  • the last time I found out something somewhat important and it wasn't on a blog?
Makes me sad really...I grew up without ALL of these "so called" luxuries...I lived. I actually had friends, a social life, a job. Because of it I believe I was taught manners, respect, good ethics, hard work, and responsibility among other things. I feel as though we are living in a society where individuals run off machines...one bigger than the next...unable to function without their electronic vices, oh sorry, I mean DE-vices. What is that...what has happened...my 5 year old is wanting an itouch...No!!! What he should be asking for is a soccer ball, or a Nerf Gun...If keeping up with the Jones means loosing my boys to this nasty, disgusting, self-centered world we live in...than NO THANKS...I'd rather explain over and over again how OUR side of the fence, though it may not look like it now, is WAY greener!! We may not have the fanciest of cars, the newest of toys, the coolest of clothes, but my boys WILL know how to use a phone, write a letter, look at someone in the eye, shake a hand and mean it, iron a shirt, and make a dinner. They never let me get a car door, a door of any kind for that matter, they always tell me how "pretty" I look, even if I don't. They are very complementary of my shoes, and they are the first to get up and help clean off any dinner table. They are fluent in "Please and Thank You" and most importantly to me...they still give me a hug and kiss each morning before they leave and each night before bed. I have no doubt that a text can't teach that...

SO...for now...my blog is for me...a private place to come and journal about what I love most...
  • my loves...My MEN
  • my sad days and my joyous occasions
  • the good the bad and the ugly
I will not stop ...I just think it's time to stop the "maddness" maybe not forever...but for now.

All My Love,

Tuesday's Tantrum...

Can ANYONE explain to me WHY
  1. It's ok to wait over an hour in a doctors office? BUT
  2. It's not ok to wait an hour at QT for a Diet Coke
  3. It's not ok to wait an hour after school to pick up your kids in the car pool lane
  4. It's not ok to wait an hour in the drive through at McDonald's to get your order
  5. It's not ok to wait an hour in the check out line at Fry's
  6. It's not ok to wait an hour to get your pizza from Domino's
  7. It's not ok to wait an hour at a red light
  8. It's not ok to wait an hour at IN and OUT
  9. It's not ok to wait on hour at NORDSTROM to get a great pair of shoes in size 8.5
Just so were clear... If you are wondering where I stand...I know I do tend to keep my opinions to my SELF, something I am constantly working on,
IT's NOT OK TO MAKE PEOPLE WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(on a totally different topic...how AMAZING is that watch...I bet some doctors could use that to help them stay on time!! I would be happy to use it! MIKE :D)

Am I Seeing Double?

It's said that pets and owners look alike...Today as Mike and I went to pick up Farley from the groomers I was amazed at how the two women leaving looked EXACTLY like their dogs.

Now, we are not one of THOSE kind of pet owners...we don't stay home from work because our Dog is sick, we do not have pet insurance, we do not dress our dog in tacky "outfits", we do not refer to her as our "Daughter" and we do not let her sleep with us...we OWN a DOG...that's it.
SO, when Mike walked out I thought, hmmm, do they look alike?

I know she doesn't come from my side :D.

(ya know, she technology is my brother's dog... :D )

Ohhh No She DIdn't

After dropping off the boys at school...I went to Sonic to get a celebration "Diet Coke"...(don't all mom's do that?)...and when the Sonic chick brought it out she said to me," OHH, your hair looks so good!" So I replied (JOKINGLY) "Ya, I did it today." and then she said, "Ya, you should do it more often, it looks good!"

Ummm, ok. Didn't know I was looking so horrendous lately. Guess so, or is it bad that I've gone to Sonic soooo much that the girl is now giving me HAIR ADVICE?

Empyt Nester!!!

O: "Mom, I don't want you to take me to school, I want to ride the BUS!!"
Mom: "O, don't you want me to go with you on your first day to show you where everything is?"
O: "No. "
Mom: "Please O, I would really like to take you and then you can ride the bus HOME."
O: "No."
Mom: "Fine!"

Mom: "Then I guess I'll just meet you there."
O: "ok"
